Melissa Crystal O'Neil was born on July 12, 1988[1]. She is a Canadian actress and singer. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season, was the winner in 2005. O'Neil is an actress who is famous for her work on Syfy's science-fiction series Dark Matter. O'Neil was famous for her performance in The Rookie as Officer Lucy Chen. O'Neil was voted in the bottom two and three of the finals. The judges were shocked and asked viewers to vote Melissa, who was clearly the most loud contestant. O'Neil was recognized for her efforts and never fell back to the third place. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the entire competition. On September 7, 2005 O'Neil made it to the final two spots of the show, competing alongside Goudie. Following many more spectacular performances she was praised by judge Werner famously said that the headlines of the next day's newspapers would read "The King, Kalan Porter is dead and long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the final results broadcast on September 14th, 2005 to win the title of the third Canadian Idol.
